Advent Calendar
What does it mean and why is it important?
Homemade/handmade treasures are the best. Aunt Beth and Pops (Great-grandpa Bichsel) made advent calendars for each family two years ago. The boys noticed today that we did not have it out yet. Not sure how we missed it. So today the Advent calendar went up, with it came a discussion. We were able to discuss the meaning of Christmas and the importance of the days prior to Christmas and how exciting they are to count down. Christmas may be a one day celebration, but because this is the celebration of the greatest gift ever given by God to mankind, it warrants a countdown. The word Advent, of Latin origin, means "the coming". So with our tree, we count down the days until the celebration of Christ's birthday.
The boys got to help me prepare for the peanut butter blossoms by unwrapping all of the kisses. I promised to give them 2 each when they were finished. Karter managed to sneak at least 4 while the other boys were hard at work. He was not the least bit happy when he ws completely removed from the kitchen counter.
Tonight we went to dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday.
